Mustela Maternite

At 17 weeks pregnant, oiling my bump has become a daily ritual of upmost importance. I was lucky enough to avoid any stretch marks with my first pregnancy and I’m going to do my damn best to avoid them with my second!

Mustela Maternite features the first complete range of products specially designed for the skin of new and expectant mothers. Factoring in their specific needs all their products are hypoallergenic, in compliance with proper hygiene rules for breastfeeding, free of questionable ingredients such as parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates, EDTA and chlorphenesin, and where possible use ingredients that are natural or of natural origin.

But what makes Mustela Maternite really unique is that it doesn’t just cover stretch marks (although it does that very well). From their Body Firming Gel with it’s patented ingredient of avocado peptides to remodel body contours after child birth, to their breastfeeding friendly Bust Firming Serum, specially formulated for the bust (breast, neck and neckline) of expectant and new mothers, and their Light Legs Gel to combat the feeling of tired legs during pregnancy, Mustela really has the needs of new and expecting mums covered.

Anyway enough with the facts, what do I really think about the Mustela Maternite range? Since I’m still expecting I am yet to test Mustelas’ Body Firming Gel, Bust Firming Serum and Stretch Mark Recovery Serum, you’ll have to wait until later in the year for those reviews but the rest, has so far impressed. Both the Stretch Mark Prevention cream and oil sink in easily, and have a lovely light floral fragrance, while the Light Legs gel is wonderfully cooling on tired legs following a long day of work events or running after the toddler, it’s even great as a post workout relaxer! But for me personally, it’s the oil that’s the real winner of the three. Amazingly hydrating, Maternite Stretch Marks Prevention Oil unlike with the majority of stretch mark oils I’ve tried, is fantastically lightweight and non-greasy in texture meaning there is no need to wait before dressing . Whether it will prevent future stretch marks, only time will tell but with prices ranging from just £13.95 to £16.95 I’ll happily preserver.
