TRIED + TESTED: The NUNA Rebl Plus Car Seat

boe-carseat2.jpg

When my eldest out grew his group 0+ Stokke car seat almost 4 years ago, the choice was easy.  Like all parents, we wanted the safest option for our little man, which meant staying rear-facing for as long as possible.

Still a reasonably new concept, our local Mothercare only stocked two rear-facing options for the next group up.  One was too big to fit in our car, which left us with Britax Romar Dual Fix care seat.  A well-trusted brand, we had very few niggles with the seat, happily putting our second in it, once he too had outgrown the Stokke.

But after 4 years of smeared food, vomit and pee (sorry I have to be honest), it was fair to say that our trusty Britax had seen better days. So when I was approached to test out the new Nuna Rebl Plus car seat the timing couldn’t have been better.

With a seat that rotates through 360 degrees, the new Rebl Plus is designed to allow you’re baby to ride rearward facing from birth until around 105 cm tall or around 3 or 4 years of age depending on the child. While the all over side impact protection, ultra resilient plastics, no rethread five point harness and crumple zone technology alongside the added addition of their new steel strength technology (the seat walls and frame are now 20% and 35% (respectively) stronger than the previous model) makes this multi award winner (99 and counting in case your interested) one seriously safe care seat.

Safety features ticked off, lets talk about function. With it’s Iso- fix instillation, the Nuna Rebl Plus is pretty easy to install…ok I say that, I didn’t actually install it, my husband did but there was no f’ing and blinding, which to me is always a thumbs up.

Then we have the option of no fewer than seven recline position to choose from, allowing you to vary the position according to whether your little one is sleeping or playing, a newborn or small child.  There is also significantly more space when rear facing compared to our much loved Britax Romer Dual, meaning your child is happier to stay rear facing for longer, another big plus for me.

But what really has to be the winning factor of the NUNA Rebl Plus Car seat (along with all the safety features of course) is it’s 360 degree rotation which makes getting your child in and out of the car seat almost as easy as getting yourself in and out. There are no fiddly bits, no stiff turns, just a simple press, swivel and in they go. If that’s not enough, the larger than average buckle makes fastening that much easier, while putting less pressure on the baby or child in the case of an accident, making for a safe ride. Oh and did I mention that the clever people at NUNA have thought about one of parent’s biggest bug bearers and include a spare care seat cover.

Several impressive safety upgrades, 360 rotation, spacious and incredibly easy to use, not only is the NUNA Rebl Plus one of the most versatile seats on the market it’s will make travelling with your little ones that much easier!
