SUPER HYDRATORS: The Best Products For Dry + Dehydrated Skin

You might not think there’s a difference between dry or dehydrated skin but if your complexion’s been looking lack luster of late, knowing whether it’s dry or dehydrated could make all the difference.

DRY SKIN

Dry skin is a skin type that doesn’t produce enough sebum or oil.  Our skin’s natural sebum production slows down from the age of 20, which is why we may start to notice our skin becoming increasingly dryer the older we get (sob sob).  This gradual reduction of sebum, leads to a lack of skin suppleness and elasticity resulting in sagging ageing skin.

So if you’ have cracked, sore or leathery skin and an increase in wrinkles, you’re probably suffering from dry skin. .

DEHYDRATED SKIN

Dehydrated skin is a condition caused by lack of water in the skin. As with sebum production our skin’s natural ability to hold water decrease with age, causing the skin to look flat and fine lines more noticeable.  However unlike dry skin, there are a number of external factors that can affect our skins hydration levels. These included ambient humidity (think air conditioning and central heating), contact with water (yes surprisingly water on the skin can actually cause more water loss, this is because water attracts and extracts water soluble molecules from your skins cells) and infrequent moisture replenishment (such as not using appropriate skincare for your skin condition).

From nourishing over night oils that regenerate your skin, to super hydration boosters to replenish your skin  on the go, we have all you need to ensure your skin looks as youthful and plumped as it did before kids!
