Is the NeoGen Plasma Worth Trying?

Is the NeoGen Plasma Worth Trying?

With injectables starting to loose their allure, the demand for non-invasive treatments to lift and rejuvenate the face has never been greater, and it’s not hard to see why.

Designed to stimulate your body’s own collagen production resulting in a plumper more lifted appearance, there is fear of looking overdone and unnatural. One such treatment making a name for it’s self due to its transformative results is the NeoGen Plasma.

Not to be confused with the controversial Fibroblast Plasma treatment or Plasma Pens, which have become famed for their occasional botched results (more likely down to the practitioners than the practise itself). The NeoGen is a next generation Plasma treatment using medical grade trogen gas-derived thermal plasma to simultaneously tighten, regenerate and resurface the whole skin architecture without puncturing or vapourising the skin’s surface.

But what makes the NeoGen Plasma really standard out against its competitors, is the way its unique properties of nitrogen plasma enable high temperatures to be delivered as deep as the reticular dermis (the inner layer of skin containing the connective tissue that supports the skin, providing structure and elasticity), at very high levels of energy. This high level of energy stimulates long-term regeneration and remodelling of collagen and elastin, tightening, lifting and plumping the skin, with results continuing to improve for up to 12 months and lasting for years.

It’s also good news for darker skin tones. Unlike other devices often restricted to lighter skin tones, the Neogen Plasma can be used on all skin types due to its adjustable energy levels. Delivering similar results to the CO2 ablative, only with half the down time it, has been proven effective at treating everything from unwanted wrinkles and slack skin to superficial skin lesions, keratosi, dark spots and acne scars.

Having made acquaintances with the CO2 laser many moons ago, I know first hand just how extreme the down time can be. From the insane amount of peeling, to hiding out for a couple of weeks in fear of scarring small children; Despite the impressive results, I have never been quite willing to put myself through that process again.

Yet, if the NeoGen Plasma can give me similar, if not better results than the CO2, with significantly less down time, what did I have to loose.

To ensure I was going to get the best possible experience, I booked myself a series of treatments at the Dr Rasha Clinic, Mayfair, London. Run by Dr Rasha Rakhshani, one of the city’s top Cosmetic doctors, the clinic is known for its advanced treatment list, highly trained practitioners and beautifully natural looking results.

What Does The Neogen plasma Treatment Involve?

Arriving for my first NeoGen Plasma appointment at the Dr Rasha Clinic, I am whisked up the stairs to the top floor of the London town house where the clinic resides, for my pretreatment consultations. Talking through my main concerns; slacked skin around the jawline, droopy eyelids and a bothersome neck, we decided to go the whole hog and treat my entire face, eye area (including the upper eye lids) and neck.

Cleansed and prepped, the NeoGen is set to the appropriate level for my skin’s needs ( a mid level setting) , and applied to my skin. Fully expecting the high levels of discomfort experienced with other rejuvenation devices such as Morpheus 8 or HiFu, I feel myself tense up, only to be pleasantly surprised by just how painless the treatment is. Even as my practitioner goes for the second pass, I remain unusually relaxed and comfortable. The only slight area apprehension being the smell of my burning baby hairs, as the NeoGen passes over my skin. Easily avoided, the Dr Rasha clinic recommend removing any unwanted facial hair a few days prior to treatment. A mere 40 minutes later and I am free to leave and go about my day.

For optimum results the Dr Rasha Clinic recommend anything between one and six NeoGen sessions but again this amount of sessions will vary according to your skin issues, strength of treatment and amount of downtime you are willing to put up with.

Is There Any Downtime?

I’m a great believer in the saying ‘No pain, No Gain’, whether that’s your workout, achieving good grades at school, a job promotion or great skin.

The NeoGen Plasma treatment may be painless but you don’t get off completely scot-free. As with many good things, sometimes you just have to tough it out, to reap the rewards at the end. And in this case toughing it out involves putting up with bright red marks all over your face for the better part of a week. There is also a mild feeling of sunburn immediately post treatment however this subsides within a matter of hours.

One thing to note, is that I do have very fair skin. Those with darker skin tones may getaway with less noticeable marks and have a shorter downtime period. They will also vary according to the level of treatment you are given and what skin issue you are trying to tackle. To give the marks a shorter shelf life, the Dr Rasha Clinic recommends avoiding any hydrating serums or moisturisers, to allow your skin to dry out, speeding up the peeling process. SPF however, is non negotiable, with a minimum factor of at least 30, 50 being preferable.

Finally, to make life a little easier when leaving the house, I would suggest investing in a good breathable foundation such as Oxygenetix £59. Designed especially to be used post procedure, it will help disguise the marks while still allowing your skin breath and to heal.

Around a week post treatment, the peeling process should be complete, revealing a brighter and more lifted complexion but it’s over the coming months that the results will really start to reveal themselves.

What do we think of the Neogen Plasma?

Seven months later and the results of the NeoGen have been transformative, lifting and tightening my skin whilst brightening my complexion and plumping out fine lies. The fact that it can also be safely used around the eye area, tackling everything from drooping eyelids to laughter lines, is a real game changer.

Yes, there may be a few days of down time but for a treatment that produces these kind of results and is also relatively pain free, I’m sold.

Prices for the NeoGen Plasma start from £800 per session. To book your consultation visit drrashaclinic.com
