Why Winter is the Perfect Time for Skin Boosters

Winter is the Perfect Time for Skin Boosters

In a permanent state of defence, our skin is fighting a never ending battle against unwanted aggressors that damage our skin health and ruin our complexions.

Pollution, bad nutrition, smoking, and ultra violet rays are some of the biggest offenders out there. Depleting our elastin, collagen and hydration levels, every aggressor that makes it through our skin barrier, takes us further and further away from the plump, glowing skin of our youth.

Winter is a particularly vulnerable time for our skin. The combination of cold weather and warm central heating can wreck havoc on our skin barrier. Causing it to become, dry, red, cracked and sore, a damaged barrier acts as a free pass to unwanted aggressors, damaging our complexions and in extreme cases, causing infections.

The advancements in skincare has meant that we now have ways to fight back, via the skin saving powers of UV fighting SPFs, pollution repelling antioxidants, moisture boosting hyaluronics and barrier protecting ceramides. However, despite their hero like abilities, sometimes skincare alone just isn’t enough.

Injectable Skin Boosters such as Profhilo, provide much needed hydration during these winter months, adding moisture from within whilst increasing the both the tone and texture of the skin. Boosting the skin with hyaluronic acid, Profhilo works to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two natural proteins within the skin responsible for keeping it taut, hydrated, and repairing it from damage.

With winter edging ever closer, I booked in with Dr Rasha at the Dr Rasha Clinic in Mayfair,  London for a course of Profhilo Skin Boosters to prep my skin for the changing season.

Spread between 6 and 8 weeks apart (depending on where my schedule allowed), Dr Rasha performed a number microinjections featuring a concentrated hyaluronic acid at specifics points on my face, including the cheeks, cheeks bones, and jawline.

Initially starting off as little raised bumps, the hyaluronic acid gradually dispersed as it spread along the tissue, capturing further moisture as went it went along. The results? Deeply hydrated, plump and enviably glowing skin. A relatively painless procedure, Profhilo also stimulates collagen production, helping to improve elasticity and firmness over time.

Whether used as a standalone or part of a combined procedure, skin boosters provide a must need drink of hydration to parched winter skin. Helping to protect the skin barrier while imparting a flattering luminosity that will keep your friends guessing all season long, I for one am hooked.
